My Story

The short story…

My name is Julie, and here’s a picture of me in my first wig. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2023, age 55. I had chemotherapy every week for 12 weeks, lost my hair, got sepsis, had a lumpectomy, followed by radiotherapy and was given the all-clear in April 2024. So many people now ask me this…

‘I hope this doesn’t trigger anything for you, but my friend has been diagnosed with cancer and I don’t know what to do. What can I give them? What can I say? I really want to help but I don’t know how.’

So this website was born. I hope you find some useful information. It’s been a labour of love, cathartic and extremely healing to know that my experience might help others.

With love, Julie x

The long story… I have added this as a PDF below. It’s not for the faint-hearted, and it won’t be everyone’s experience, so please only read if you’re ready. I have added my contact details to the PDF, if anyone would like a chat, I can organise that. Here it is.
